Belarus Inflation Eases to 8-Month Low

In December, Belarus experienced a deceleration in its annual inflation rate, which declined to 6.8%, marking the slowest rate since April 2025. This is a decrease from the 7.0% recorded in the previous month. This slowdown was largely due to a reduced pace of price increases in food products, which grew by 9.0% compared to 9.9% in November. However, this was somewhat balanced by quicker price rises in non-food products, which increased by 3.0% from 2.6%, and services, which rose by 8.0% compared to the previous 7.7%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices saw a 0.3% increase, following a 0.4% rise in November. Over the entirety of 2025, consumer prices increased by 6.7% year-on-year, a noticeable uptick from the 5.7% rise observed in 2024.
