Finnish Consumer Prices Rebound in December

In December 2025, Finland's consumer prices experienced a year-on-year increase of 0.2%, recovering from a 0.1% decline in the prior month. This rise was notably quicker in the sectors of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which saw an increase of 2.0% compared to 1.7% in November; communication services climbed 4.2% from 3.6%; recreation and culture grew by 1.9% from 1.1%; and the hospitality industry, encompassing restaurants and hotels, went up to 2.2% from 2.0%. Meanwhile, price stability was observed in categories such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics at 2.3%, health services at 5.6%, and education at 2.8%. The deflationary trend eased for clothing and footwear with a decrease of 0.4% compared to 0.8%, housing and utilities fell by 2.0% from 2.4%, and miscellaneous goods and services recorded a dip of 2.0% from 2.4%. Transportation costs further decreased, dropping by 0.5% compared to a previous 0.3% decline, whereas prices for furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance remained static at -0.1%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices observed a 0.2% increase in December, bouncing back from a two-month consecutive decline of 0.2%.
