Swedish Household Spending Rebounds

In November 2025, Sweden saw a 1.0% month-on-month rise in household spending, signaling a recovery from the revised 0.5% increase experienced in October. This rebound was primarily attributed to a significant surge in spending on recreation and culture, goods and services (up 3.5% in contrast to a previous decline of 0.4%), as well as an uptick in food and beverage consumption (rising 0.7% compared to a slight decrease of 0.1%). Spending on housing, electricity, gas, and heating remained static, showing a minor change at 0.2%. However, there was a 1.6% decline in sectors such as transport, retail trade, and motor vehicle services. Year-over-year, household consumption climbed 3.5%, accelerating from an upwardly revised growth of 2.7% in the past month.
