Baltic Dry index Up for 4th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, a key measure of rates for shipping dry commodities, registered its fourth consecutive day of gains on Wednesday, rising 4.3% to reach its peak since January 6, achieving 1,803 points. This upward momentum was reflected across all vessel categories. The capesize index, which predominantly handles cargoes of around 150,000 tons like iron ore and coal, rose for the fourth day in a row, experiencing a 6.3% increase to settle at 2,732 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, responsible for typically transporting 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, climbed 2.3% to 1,606 points, marking its highest level since mid-December. In the category of smaller vessels, the supramax index experienced an uptick, adding 13 points to reach 996 points.
