US Construction Spending Rises More than Expected

In October 2025, construction spending in the United States experienced a month-over-month rise of 0.5%, recovering from a 0.6% decrease in September and surpassing market expectations of a 0.1% increase. During this period, private sector investment saw a 0.6% uptick, rebounding from a 0.9% drop in the previous month. This rebound was primarily supported by a 1.3% growth in the residential sector, which counterbalanced a 0.2% decline in the nonresidential segment. Public sector spending inched upward by 0.1%, following a 0.4% rise in September, driven by a 0.1% gain in the nonresidential area. On a year-over-year basis, overall construction spending decreased by 1%.
