Mexico Jobless Rate Below Expectations in December

In December 2025, Mexico's unemployment rate held steady at 2.4%, the same as the previous year and below market forecasts of 2.6%. The unemployed population amounted to 1.5 million individuals. Unemployment among women was slightly higher at 2.6%, compared to 2.2% for men. Those without a completed lower-secondary education comprised 11.0% of the unemployed, while those with higher educational qualifications made up 88.8%. When broken down by age, the majority of unemployment was seen in the 25–44 year age bracket, at 46.1%, followed by 33.5% among those aged 15–24 years. Regarding the length of unemployment, 42.9% had been jobless for one month or less, while 32.6% experienced unemployment for over one month but less than three months. The underemployment rate was reported at 6.2%.
