Canada Imports Edge Lower in November

In November, Canada's imports saw a slight decline of 0.1% compared to the previous month, totaling C$66.14 billion. This decrease followed a 3.4% increase in October. Of the eleven product categories, seven experienced reductions. Notably, imports of motor vehicles and parts decreased by 4.5%, primarily due to a 4.8% drop in passenger cars and light trucks. Similarly, energy product imports fell by 10.6%, highlighted by a significant 30.2% decrease in crude oil and crude bitumen. Counterbalancing some of these declines, there was a 6.2% increase in consumer goods imports, driven by a substantial 14.8% rise in pharmaceutical and medicinal products and a 12.8% increase in clothing, footwear, and accessories.
