In January 2026, Vietnam experienced a 9.3% increase in retail sales compared to the same month the previous year, marking a slight deceleration from December 2025's 9.8% growth. Although sales growth remained strong across all sectors, it was not as vigorous as in the preceding month. Notably, the deceleration was most evident in areas such as accommodation and food services, which saw growth slow to 9.4% from December's 14.2%, as well as in travel and tourism, which decreased to 14% from 19.9%, and other services, which eased to 8.9% from 12.7%. In contrast, the retail of goods—which constitutes 77% of total retail sales—experienced a growth uptick to 9.3%, up from an 8.6% increase in the previous period.
