France Forex Reserves Hit New All-Time High

In January 2026, France's official reserve assets surged to a new record of €409.26 billion, up from €362.74 billion in December, marking an increase of €46.52 billion. This growth was primarily attributed to the rise in gold reserves, which expanded to €334.05 billion from €287.48 billion in the previous month, along with a modest increase in foreign currency reserves, now at €30.55 billion compared to €30.36 billion. Conversely, there were slight declines in the nation's claims on the IMF, decreasing from €38.41 billion to €38.20 billion, and other reserve assets, which dropped to €6.46 billion from €6.49 billion. For context, back in January 2025, the reserves were valued at €292.59 billion.
