Slovenia’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.6% in January 2026, down slightly from 2.7% in December. The slowdown was mainly driven by more moderate price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.2% vs 4.5% in December), education (3.9% vs 4.2%), restaurants and hotels (2.3% vs 4.0%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.3% vs 2.6%). At the same time, transport costs continued to fall, with prices dropping 2.0% compared with a 0.7% decline in the previous month.
In contrast, inflation accelerated in several categories, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.5% vs 4.3%), clothing and footwear (2.6% vs 1.1%), and housing and utilities (4.6% vs 4.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.5% in January, following a flat reading in the prior month.
