Mongolia’s annual inflation rate was 7.5% in January 2026, unchanged from December. Price growth slowed for transport (2.1% vs 2.2% in December 2025), clothing and footwear (6.6% vs 6.9%), housing and utilities (4.3% vs 4.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (8.9% vs 11%), and furnishings and household equipment (5.3% vs 7%). Costs were stable for communication (1.5%) and education services (12.8%). In contrast, prices accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.6% vs 11.3%), health (6.5% vs 6.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.4% vs 6.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6% in January, the same rate as in each of the previous two months.
