New housing prices in Canada fell by 0.4% month-on-month in January 2026, deepening from a 0.2% decline in December and defying expectations for a 0.1% increase. The house-only index dropped 0.6%, extending the previous month’s 0.2% decrease, while the land-only component was unchanged after a 0.1% dip in December. On an annual basis, new housing prices were down 2.3%, compared with a 2.0% decline in the prior month.
