Brazil’s GDP Hits 20th Straight Quarter of Expansion

Brazil’s GDP grew 1.8% year-on-year in Q4 2025, marking the 20th consecutive quarter of expansion. The agriculture and livestock sector surged 12.1%, buoyed by strong performances in tobacco (29.8%), oranges (28.4%), and wheat (3.7%). Services advanced 2.0%, supported mainly by a 7.1% increase in information and communication activities.

Industrial output rose 0.6%. Within industry, extractive activities expanded 12.0% on the back of higher oil and gas production, while utilities grew 1.0% amid stronger residential electricity demand. In contrast, manufacturing contracted 2.0%, its third consecutive decline, weighed down by weaker production of petroleum derivatives, automobiles, metals, and chemicals. Construction also fell 2.9%, reflecting softer employment, reduced output of inputs, and weaker sales of building materials.
