Danish Manufacturing Output at 4-Month High

Denmark’s manufacturing output increased by 3.8% month-on-month in January 2026, following an upwardly revised 1.2% rise in December. This was the strongest monthly gain since September 2025, driven by a sharp rebound in several key industries, including textiles and leather products (up 13% vs -1.9% previously), food, beverages and tobacco (0.3% vs -1.1% in December 2025), wood and paper products (5.8% vs -1.9%), pharmaceutical products (6.9% vs -6.2%), and electrical components (10.7% vs -12.1%). Activity also strengthened in basic metals (3.4% vs 2%).

By contrast, growth in petroleum and chemical products slowed sharply (1% vs 24.2%), while output fell markedly in rubber, plastic, glass and concrete products (-3.7% vs 1.7%) and in transport equipment (-8.1% vs 4.8%). On a non-seasonally adjusted, year-on-year basis, manufacturing production rose 14.1% in January, accelerating from an upwardly revised 1.4% increase in the previous period.
