North Macedonia Inflation Hits 10-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in North Macedonia eased to 2.9% in February 2026, down from 3.2% in January, reaching its lowest level since April of the previous year. The slowdown was primarily driven by continued deflation in transport prices (–4.4% vs –6.5% in January).

Inflation also decelerated in several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9% vs 5.2%), furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (4.6% vs 5.8%), health (2% vs 2.9%), and restaurants and accommodation services (4.1% vs 4.8%).

In contrast, price growth accelerated for clothing and footwear (2.6% vs 1.2%), recreation, sport and culture (5.4% vs 4.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (2.1% vs 1%). Education services also moved back into positive territory, with prices rising 3.8% after a slight decline in the previous month (–0.1%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in February, rebounding from a 0.7% decrease in the prior month.
