Portugal’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.1% in February 2026, up from a ten-month low of 1.9% in January, in line with the preliminary estimate. Unprocessed food prices accelerated, increasing 6.6% after a 5.8% gain in January, likely driven by higher fresh vegetable prices following supply disruptions caused by recent storms. Prices for processed food products grew 0.9%, slightly above the 0.8% rise recorded in the previous month. In contrast, energy prices fell 2.3%, after a 2.4% decline in January. The core inflation rate, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, inched up to 1.9% from 1.8% in the prior month. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.1% in February, matching earlier projections, after a 0.7% decline in the previous month.
