This was the lowest reading since March 2021. The key shelter index rose 3% over the past year, matching its January pace. Other categories with notable year-over-year increases included medical care (+3.4%), household furnishings and operations (+3.9%), recreation (+2.3%), and personal care (+4.5%). On a monthly basis, core consumer prices advanced 0.2% in February, following a 0.3% gain in January, also consistent with market forecasts.
