Colombia’s industrial production continued to contract at the start of 2026, but the pace of decline moderated slightly. Year-on-year output fell 0.5% in January 2026, following a 0.6% drop in December 2025, according to data updated on 16 March 2026.
The figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s performance with the same month a year earlier. While the sector remains in negative territory, the marginal improvement suggests that the industrial downturn may be stabilizing, with January’s reading showing a slightly smaller contraction than at the end of 2025.
The back-to-back declines highlight ongoing weakness in Colombia’s industrial base, but the narrowing gap could be monitored by markets and policymakers as a tentative sign that the worst of the slowdown might be passing, pending stronger data in the coming months.
