Danish Business Confidence at 7-Month High

Denmark’s manufacturing confidence indicator rose to 94 in March 2026 from 92.5 in February, reaching its highest level since August but remaining below the long-term average of 100. The improvement was largely driven by stronger production expectations, which increased to 14 from 7, the highest reading in seven months and a sign of a gradual recovery in industrial activity.

The overall outlook, however, was mixed. Employment expectations turned negative, dropping to -10 from 2, while price expectations moved into contraction territory, falling to -6 from 5, indicating easing cost pressures.

More broadly, the composite business indicator — covering manufacturing, construction, retail, and services — edged up to 103.9 from 103.3, underscoring continued resilience in overall business sentiment. Confidence in construction improved to 102.5 from 100, and sentiment in services strengthened to 107 from 106.2, whereas confidence in retail trade weakened to 106.7 from 110.7.
