Week Ahead - Mar 23rd

The war in the Persian Gulf will remain the primary driver of market movements, as energy exports from the region are virtually halted going into the fourth week of conflict. In the United States, the data calendar will be led by the S&P PMI leading indicators, the University of Michigan consumer confidence index, and survey results from several regional Federal Reserve banks. Flash PMIs will also be released for the Euro Area and its largest member economies, as well as for the UK, Japan, Australia, and India. In Europe, confidence indicators for Germany and the broader Euro Area will offer further insight into how the conflict is affecting sentiment. Consumer inflation figures are due from Japan, the UK, and Australia, while Spain will be the first major economy to publish March data. Meanwhile, monetary policy decisions are scheduled from the central banks of Norway and Mexico.
