Retail sales in Mexico increased by 5.0% year-on-year in January 2026, up from 4.3% in December and extending the growth streak to a ninth consecutive month. The strongest advances were seen in online and catalog sales (23.9%), healthcare products (16.2%), stationery and other personal-use items (11.9%), textiles, costume jewelry, clothing accessories and footwear (11.8%), household goods, computers, home décor and used items (6.4%), and motor vehicles, auto parts, fuels and lubricants (6.2%). By contrast, spending on groceries declined by 1.8%. On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 1.0%, rebounding from a 0.1% drop in the previous month.
