The number of registered unemployed in mainland France increased by 17,700 in February 2026 compared with the previous month, reaching 3.108 million. This was the first rise in the number of jobseekers since October of the previous year. Among people aged 25 to 49, unemployment grew by 13,700 to 1.801 million, while for those aged 50 and over it rose by 3,400 to 804,000. Among people under 25, the unemployed population increased only marginally, by 600, to 504,000.
