Qatar’s economy moved into negative territory in the final quarter of 2025, with quarter-on-quarter GDP declining by 0.40%, according to data updated on 31 March 2026. The contraction follows a strong third quarter, when GDP expanded by 2.30% compared with the previous quarter.
The figures highlight a sharp loss of momentum in late 2025. While the third quarter’s 2.30% increase reflected solid quarter-on-quarter growth versus the prior period, the fourth quarter’s -0.40% reading indicates that output fell compared with Q3 2025.
On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the latest data suggest that Qatar’s economy may be facing a period of cooling after earlier gains, with the shift from strong expansion in Q3 to contraction in Q4 underscoring increased volatility in short-term growth dynamics.
