Danish Manufacturing Output Slips

Denmark’s manufacturing output fell by 2% month-on-month in February 2026, offsetting a revised 3.3% rise in January and marking the first monthly decline since November 2025. The downturn was driven by sharp drops in production of motor vehicles (-12.8% vs 7.8% in January), electronics (-1.6% vs 5.2%), pharmaceuticals (-4.1% vs 7.4%), and textiles, clothing and leather (-7.6% vs 12.8%). Output also continued to shrink in petroleum and chemicals (-5.7% vs -0.8%) and in rubber, plastic, glass and concrete (-4.9% vs -4.6%). Growth came to a halt in food, beverages and tobacco (0% vs 1.1%) and slowed sharply in wood, paper and printing (0.1% vs 6.8%). By contrast, production recovered in metal and metal products (2.2% vs -8.9%), electrical equipment (2% vs -4.4%), and machinery (6.9% vs -3.4%). On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing growth moderated to 6.8% in February from 12.4% in January.
