Slovenia Industrial Output Downturn Eases

Slovenia’s industrial production fell by 2.5% year-on-year in February 2026, moderating from an upwardly revised 3.8% decline in January and marking the smallest drop since December. The overall improvement was largely driven by manufacturing, where output rose 1.9% following a 4.2% contraction in the previous month. The downturn in mining also eased noticeably, with production shrinking by just 1.3% compared with a steep 16.3% fall in January. In contrast, activity in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector slumped by 31.9%, reversing a modest 0.2% increase in the prior month.

By main industrial groupings, production of capital goods grew by 9.1%, accelerating from a 3.6% rise in January, while output of consumer goods expanded by 3.5% after an 11.3% decline. Meanwhile, intermediate goods production fell more sharply, dropping 10.6% after a 2.4% decrease. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial output dipped 0.1% in February, following a downwardly revised 0.4% decline in the previous month.
