DAX Extends Losses

Frankfurt’s DAX 40 slipped 0.4% to below 24,000 on Tuesday, extending its losing streak to a seventh consecutive session. Sentiment remained under pressure amid stalled US–Iran talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and a continued climb in oil prices. US President Trump and his national security team are reportedly skeptical of Iran’s offer to reopen the strait while deferring negotiations on its nuclear program.

At the same time, investors focused on corporate earnings and positioned themselves ahead of key policy decisions from major central banks due later this week. Qiagen NV was the index’s worst performer, dropping more than 6% after disappointing Q1 results and a cut to its full-year 2026 guidance. Bayer shares declined as much as 6.5% as the US Supreme Court appeared divided over the company’s multi‑billion‑dollar US glyphosate litigation.
