Retail trade in Latvia rose by 3.9% year-on-year in March 2026, slightly below the downwardly revised 4.0% increase recorded in February. The strongest growth was observed in sales of cultural and recreational goods and sports equipment (up 12.4%), information and communication equipment in specialised stores (up 11.8%), and hardware, tools, construction materials and sanitary equipment (up 11.4%). In contrast, retail turnover in stalls and markets declined by 6.4%.
On a monthly basis, retail sales edged down 0.1% compared with February, mainly due to lower sales of pharmaceutical and medical goods (down 3.5%) and information and communication equipment in specialised stores (down 2.7%).
