Denmark’s unemployment rate was 2.7% in March 2026, unchanged from February and remaining at its highest level since September 2021. The number of unemployed persons fell by 1.7 thousand from the previous month to 80.9 thousand. By gender, the unemployment rate for men rose slightly to 3.1% from 2.9% in February, while the rate for women inched up to 3.1% from 3.0%.
Net unemployment benefit recipients decreased by 1.9 thousand to 71 thousand, whereas the number of people receiving cash assistance increased marginally by 0.1 thousand to 9.9 thousand.
Across age groups, unemployment edged higher in all segments. Youth unemployment, covering job seekers aged 16 to 24, rose to 1.6% from 1.5%. The rate also increased for those aged 25 to 29 (to 5.0% from 4.8%), 30 to 39 (4.2% from 4.1%), 40 to 49 (2.7% from 2.6%), 50 to 59 (2.3% from 2.2%), and 60 to 66 (3.2% from 3.1%).
