Spain Current Account Surplus Widens in February

Spain’s current account surplus increased to €4 billion in February 2026, up from €3.8 billion in the same month a year earlier, according to preliminary data. The balance of goods and services posted a surplus of €5.5 billion, compared with €4.6 billion a year before, an expansion of almost 20%. Within this category, tourism generated a surplus of €4.2 billion, unchanged from February 2015. By contrast, the primary and secondary income balance registered a deficit of €1.5 billion, widening from €700 million a year earlier. Over the first two months to February, the current account surplus reached €6.77 billion, slightly below the €6.88 billion recorded in the same period a year earlier.
