Spain’s consumer confidence index fell sharply to 66.9 in March 2026, down from 83.9 in February, reaching its lowest level since November 2022. The decline was driven largely by heightened uncertainty about the global economic outlook stemming from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Household expectations dropped by 21.8 points to 68.4, indicating growing pessimism about short-term economic prospects. At the same time, perceptions of the current economic situation deteriorated, with the corresponding sub-index decreasing by 12.1 points to 65.5.
