China to Accept Coffee Bean Shipments from 53 African Countries

China will open its market to qualifying coffee bean imports from all 53 African countries with diplomatic relations starting July 20, 2026, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC). Coffee beans will become the second African agricultural product—after dried chilies—to receive full quarantine clearance for entry into China, underscoring the deepening agricultural trade links between China and Africa. Major coffee producers such as Ethiopia and Burundi already enjoy export access, while Mauritius, Angola, Togo, Guinea, Liberia, and São Tomé and Príncipe have submitted applications to join the program.
