US Real Personal Consumption Growth Slows to 0.1% in April

Real personal consumption in the United States rose 0.1% month-over-month in April 2026, easing from a 0.2% increase in March 2026, according to data updated on 28 May 2026. The figures are measured on a month-over-month basis, comparing each month’s change with the previous month.

The slowdown suggests a slight cooling in inflation-adjusted consumer spending momentum as the second quarter began. In March, real consumption grew twice as fast as in April, with the 0.2% gain reflecting a stronger pace of spending compared with the month before. The April reading, while still positive, points to more moderate real consumption growth heading into late spring.
