FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Falls on Monday

The Baltic Exchange dry bulk freight index fell 1.4% to 2,684 on Monday, as all major vessel segments weakened. The capesize index, which tracks ships that typically carry about 150,000 tonnes of cargo such as iron ore and coal, declined 1.8% to 4,074. The panamax index, reflecting vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes of coal or grain, also decreased 1.8% to 2,059. Meanwhile, the supramax index edged down 0.2% to 1,715.
