US Crude Oil Inventories Fall More than Expected

US crude oil inventories declined by 6.088 million barrels to 412.1 million barrels in the week ended June 19, a larger draw than the market consensus of 4.5 million barrels. Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub fell by 1.077 million barrels. Refinery crude runs slipped by 81,000 barrels per day.

In contrast, gasoline inventories rose by 2.064 million barrels to 216.3 million barrels, defying expectations for a 0.6 million-barrel decrease. Distillate stockpiles—which include diesel and heating oil—climbed by 3.064 million barrels to 106.2 million barrels, compared with forecasts for a 0.5 million-barrel decline. Net crude imports increased by 94,000 barrels per day.
