European Stocks Close at Record

European equities advanced on Thursday, building on a subdued performance in the previous session, as renewed strength in the technology sector underpinned gains. The Euro STOXX 50 rose 0.8% to 6,263, while the STOXX Europe 600 also climbed 0.8% to a record high of 640.

Semiconductor stocks and companies linked to AI infrastructure led the move higher, rebounding from yesterday’s pullback after upbeat guidance from Micron in the US helped restore confidence in the AI trade. ASML gained 2.6% and Infineon rose 2.3%, while Siemens Energy advanced 2.5%.

Bank shares also recovered, supported by a further retreat in energy prices and a decline in sovereign bond yields across the Eurozone, which improved the outlook for credit growth. BNP Paribas and BBVA each added 1.5%.

Bayer was a standout performer, surging nearly 20% in its strongest session in 23 years after the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of the company in lawsuits related to its Roundup weedkiller.
