Saxony Inflation Slips Deeper Into Negative Territory in June

Consumer prices in Germany’s Saxony region fell further in June, underscoring persistent disinflationary pressures at the regional level. The Saxony Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined by 0.3% month-over-month in June 2026, following a 0.1% drop in May 2026, according to data updated on 30 June 2026.

The June reading marks an acceleration in the pace of price declines compared with the previous month, when the CPI slipped 0.1% from April. On a month-over-month basis, the “actual” figure reflects the change in prices between May and June, while the “previous” figure captures the move between April and May. The deeper negative print suggests that, at least in Saxony, price pressures remain subdued and are weakening further on a short-term comparison basis.

While the data are regional, Saxony’s figures offer an additional signal for analysts tracking inflation dynamics across Germany. A continuation of negative monthly readings, if echoed in other federal states, could influence expectations around the broader German inflation path and, by extension, the policy outlook for the euro area.
