Austria’s unemployment rate in June 2026 inched up to 6.9%, compared with 6.8% in the same month a year earlier. The total number of unemployed persons increased by 6,912 year-on-year, reaching 295,457.
By gender, the unemployment rate for women rose by 0.3 percentage points to 6.9%, with the number of unemployed women expanding by 7,730 to 139,381. In contrast, the unemployment rate for men and other genders held broadly steady at 6.8%, while the number of unemployed in this group declined by 818 to 156,076.
Dependent employment grew by 5,000 compared with a year earlier, totaling 4,008,000. Employment among women increased by 4,000 to 1,883,000, while employment among men and other genders remained unchanged at 2,125,000.
Including participants in training measures, the combined number of unemployed persons and individuals enrolled in labour market programmes rose by 4,529 from a year ago to 368,948.
