Mongolia Inflation Rate Highest in Over 3 Years

Mongolia’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 12.0% year-on-year in June 2026, up from 11.2% in May, marking the highest level since March 2023. Price growth picked up in several major categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (24.8% vs. 23.4% in May), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (12.0% vs. 11.4%), clothing and footwear (7.0% vs. 6.8%), housing and utilities (5.3% vs. 1.7%), furnishings, household equipment and tools (8.0% vs. 7.8%), health (7.2% vs. 7.1%), and restaurants and hotels (15.2% vs. 11.0%).

By contrast, inflation eased slightly for transport (5.7% vs. 5.8%), recreation and culture (5.5% vs. 6.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (9.1% vs. 9.8%), while remaining unchanged for communication (1.6%), education (12.8%), and insurance and financial services (17.0%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.0% in June, slowing from a 1.2% increase in May.
