Albania Annual Inflation at 2024-Highs

Albania’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.2% in June 2026, its highest level since January 2024, up from 3.0% in May. The acceleration was mainly driven by faster price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.0% vs. 2.2%) and in housing and utilities (4.8% vs. 4.2%). Inflation also increased in restaurants and hotels (3.3% vs. 3.0%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.5% vs. 3.4%), recreation and culture (6.1% vs. 4.2%), education (2.3% vs. 2.1%), and health (1.7% vs. 1.6%).

In contrast, price growth eased in transport (3.2% vs. 7.8%), furnishings and household equipment (2.7% vs. 2.8%), and communications (0.6% vs. 0.5%), while prices for clothing and footwear declined further (-0.9% vs. -0.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.1% in June, following a 0.04% decrease in May.
