Lithuania’s current account deficit widened sharply to EUR 267.84 million in May 2026, up from EUR 22.12 million in the same month a year earlier. This was the largest shortfall since July 2025 and was driven primarily by a deterioration in the goods balance, where the deficit increased to EUR 859.50 million from EUR 632.28 million.
The primary income deficit also deepened, rising to EUR 424.64 million from EUR 336.57 million, while the secondary income surplus narrowed to EUR 37.11 million, down from EUR 59.52 million a year earlier. In contrast, the services account surplus strengthened, expanding to EUR 979.19 million from EUR 887.21 million.
