US Core PPI Momentum Cools Sharply in June, Easing to 0.1% MoM

Producer prices excluding food, energy, and transport in the United States slowed markedly in June 2026, rising just 0.1% month-over-month, according to data updated on 15 July 2026. This followed a much stronger 0.8% gain in May 2026, underscoring a significant moderation in underlying producer price pressures.

The June reading, based on a month-over-month comparison, reflects how core producer prices changed from May to June. By contrast, the previous figure captures the change from April to May, when the indicator advanced by 0.8%. The sharp deceleration suggests that some of the earlier upward momentum in core input costs for businesses may be easing, a development closely watched by markets and policymakers as they assess the inflation outlook.
