US Futures Steady After Selloff

US stock futures were little changed on Friday as investors sought to regain footing after a broad market selloff triggered by surging oil prices and disappointing results from major technology companies. In Thursday’s regular session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 500 points, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite recorded their steepest one-day declines since June 23, dropping 1.2% and 2.2%, respectively. Brent crude rose above $100 per barrel for the first time since late May after two Saudi oil tankers were reportedly hit in the Red Sea, heightening worries about potential supply disruptions from the Middle East. At the same time, Tesla slumped nearly 15% after missing second-quarter earnings estimates, its worst single-day performance since March 2025, and Alphabet slid 7% after increasing its full-year capital expenditure outlook. All three major indexes were on course for weekly losses, with the Nasdaq leading the decline.
