Canada’s June CPI Cools to 2.8% YoY, Easing from 3.2% in May

Canada’s consumer price inflation eased in June 2026, with the annual CPI rate slowing to 2.8% year-over-year from 3.2% in May, according to data updated on 20 July 2026.

The June reading marks a moderation in price pressures when compared with the same month a year earlier, extending the downward move from May’s year-over-year pace. Both the current and previous figures are measured on a Year-over-Year basis, comparing each month’s price level to that of the corresponding month in the prior year.

The latest data indicate that, on this basis, inflation in Canada continued to decelerate into early summer, potentially easing some pressure on households and informing expectations around future monetary policy decisions.
