Macau Tourist Arrivals Drop 3.1% in June

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau declined by 3.1% year-on-year to 2.801 million in June 2026, reversing a 3.4% increase in May. This was the first contraction since February 2025. The drop was driven by a 9.0% decrease in overnight visitors, to 1.164 million, while same-day visitors edged up 1.6% to 1.637 million.

The average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier, to 1.1 days. The average stay for overnight visitors, however, held steady at 2.4 days.

By source market, arrivals from mainland China fell 2.3% year-on-year to 1.950 million, even as the number of tourists traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme increased 2.6% to 1.054 million. Arrivals from Hong Kong (577,275) and the Philippines (36,686) also declined, by 5.9% and 22.0%, respectively.

In contrast, visitor arrivals from Taiwan (95,277), Thailand (13,228), and India (12,735) rose by 12.0%, 27.5%, and 6.9%, respectively.

For the first half of 2026 as a whole, total visitor arrivals increased 9.0% year-on-year to 20.944 million.
