UK Private Sector Activity Returns to Growth in July

The S&P Global UK Composite PMI increased to 52.2 in July 2026 from 49.3 in June, in line with the preliminary estimate of 52.1 and indicating the strongest expansion in private sector activity since April. The upturn was driven by renewed growth in services and the sharpest rise in manufacturing output since September 2024. New business increased for the first time in three months, though overall employment continued to fall due to ongoing job losses in the services sector. At the same time, input cost inflation eased in both manufacturing and services, while output price inflation slowed to its lowest level in five months.
