European equities edged to fresh record highs on Monday, supported by gains across most major sectors. The Euro STOXX 50 advanced 0.3% to 6,540, while the STOXX Europe 600 ticked up to 661, with both indices closing at all-time highs. Investors largely shrugged off a rebound in sovereign bond yields, even as uncertainty surrounding the resumption of energy exports from the Middle East kept inflation risks in focus.
Energy shares outperformed, with TotalEnergies up 2% and ENI gaining 1.5%, in tandem with a modest recovery in oil and natural gas prices. Technology stocks also moved higher, mirroring strength in US peers on encouraging signals for cloud services; SAP, ASML, and Infineon each climbed around 1%. The heavyweight financial sector finished modestly higher as well, with Allianz and Deutsche Bank both adding more than 1%.
