South Korea Export Prices Surge in July

South Korea’s export prices soared 49.1% year-on-year in July 2026, the fastest increase since the 1998 Asian financial crisis. Among major categories, manufactured goods also recorded a 49.1% rise, driven by a sharp 122.3% surge in prices for computers, electronic and optical equipment. Prices for coal and petroleum products climbed 61.5%, basic metal products 28.1%, and chemical products 22.7%. Export prices for agricultural, forestry and marine products advanced 32.6%.

On a month-on-month basis, the Export Price Index increased 1.0%. The Export Volume Index gained 14.7% year-on-year, while the Export Value Index rose 25.8%. The Net Barter Terms of Trade Index also improved, rising 24.7% from a year earlier.
