The DAX 40 advanced 0.7% on Friday to climb above 26,480, marking a new record high and outperforming its major European counterparts. Investor sentiment remained supported by robust corporate earnings and easing concerns over interest rates, even as geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East persisted. Diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions between the US and Iran showed little progress, with ongoing attacks in the region and Washington warning of unprecedented economic measures against Tehran next week.
Among individual constituents, heavyweight SAP led the gains with a 4.8% jump. Other strong performers included Rheinmetall (up 4.1%), Scout24 (3.3%), Hannover Rück (1.9%), and MTU Aero Engines (1.7%). On the downside, E.ON fell 3%, while Hochtief dropped 2%, RWE declined 1.9%, Deutsche Post lost 1.5%, and Infineon Technologies slipped 0.8%, making them the session’s worst performers. For the week, the DAX 40 was on track to add around 0.6%.
