The number of building permits issued in Serbia rose by 11.3% year-on-year to 2,673 in June 2026, marking an acceleration from the 4.6% increase recorded in May. Buildings accounted for 81.3% of all permits, of which 81.8% were intended for residential construction and 18.2% for non-residential buildings. The remaining 18.7% of permits were issued for civil engineering projects, with the majority (69.2%) related to pipelines, communication networks, and electrical lines.
In total, 3,873 dwellings were approved for construction. Of these, 11.3% are planned in single-dwelling buildings, while 87.6% are to be built in multi-dwelling buildings with three or more units. Regionally, the Belgrade area accounted for the largest share of planned construction, with 46.6% of all projects.
