US Manufacturing Output Rises 0.2% in July

US manufacturing output rose 0.2% in July 2026, matching market expectations. Production of durable goods increased 0.7%, with most categories posting gains of more than 1%. Within the durable goods sector, only nonmetallic mineral products and motor vehicles and parts declined, down 0.2% and 2.1%, respectively. In contrast, production of nondurable goods fell 0.4%, as increases in textile and product mills and in petroleum and coal products were more than offset by declines across all other categories. Capacity utilization in manufacturing edged up to 76% in July, remaining 2.2 percentage points below its long-run average for the period 1972–2025.
